Some directions could have adapted to more careful editing (one project, for example, calls for highlighting textured areas of clay with carouse but doesn't describe making the textured surface in the first pad; the instructions also neglect to specify that the object must be placed in the oven to bake). "[A] well designed guile book...the end results dazzle."--Publishers Weekly Annex

Can I include the paper/wood elements of a polymer clay project in the oven when baking?

I'm in the organization of the proposal to make a knife with a blade made of foam board (one sheet of foam sandwiched between two sheets of autograph) which rotates on a small wood in the neck. The handle is made of polymer clay. The far easier to collect the knife is to cook with the "lame" already in place.

If I cook the clay to 275 degrees F and away from any metal bits (polyfill I use the method in a saucepan), what are the chances of my ladies man and the short position within the fire ?

Nothing you will say "take them into the fire" at this low temperature (do not keep everything from rolls or sides of an oven, though since that will create a much higher temperature than the air-temp) .

You can cook all the supplies you want from polymer clay or touch, without the problems that will not itself * * deform, melt, etc to the low temperature necessary for curing the polymer clay ... in other words, wood, metal, glass, ceramic, terracotta, natural materials like cotton and twigs, etc, are all very well (and in fact, the post and does not burn the wood until the famous temperature of 451 F).

About the only thing you have to be concerned about that is when the plastic, and some types of clay will warp or melt at the time, even between 200 and 300 F. .. so I'm not sure what would happen to the foam of the foam core board. You would probably better to try to see.

If you want to know more about baking polymer clay and materials that can be baked, you can overwrite these two pages of my site for lots of info:

(We can also say the blade itself from polymer clay, and only an hour to get to what look like metal ... check the time to learn more about the following :

But I think you can wrap or something else discomfit with aluminum, etc.)

Nothing you mentioned will "curb fire" at that low a temp (do keep everything away from the coils or sides of an oven though since that will create a much higher temp than the air-temp).

You can bake any substantial you want inside polymer clay or touching it without problems that won't *itself* distort, melt, etc., at the low temp needed for curing polymer clay... in other words, wood, metal, goblet, ceramic, terracotta, natural materials like twigs and cotton, etc are all fine (and in fact, form and wood don't burn till the famous temperature of 451 F).

About the only thing you have to be concerned about that is when the plastic and opening certain types of distortion or even collapse time between 200 and 300 F. .. so I'm not sure what would happen to the foam amount of foam board. You would probably better to try to see.

How to get a glossy photo to stick to polymer clay???

I need to make handmade jewelry (pins) using my illustrations printed on glossy photo disquisition, and I want to get them to adhere permanently to flat, rolled out baked polymer clay (about 1/8" thick).

I've tried fluent sculpty and when I get it out of the toaster oven, the glossy photos buckle up on the sides.

I've tried wood glue, but the polymer clay skin and the glossy photos don't allow the glue to dry (need a poreous surface for that).

What can I use? I want to take the final connect and then add a final acrylic glossy seal to the whole thing....

thanks for any suggestions....!

You can't.

But, you can ( I have done this) take a run-out powder steal color, reverse, photocopies of your photo, and stick this copy face down on the sculpy flat, and delay 20 min then bake the paper and all. The sculpy will act like silly putty and transfer the image onto itself. You can then overlay on acrylic seal. It's just as good if not better than your "paper on sculpy."

You may need to practice run some first.
