How hard is it to knit a ladies jumper and how hard are motifs to knit? I have only ever knitted scarves/hats

I destitution to knit an adults motif sweater. I plan on using a simple motif but am not sure how many hours it will take? How petrified is it to knit the pieces to make a jumper? Are patterns easy to follow? I only want to make a in reality simple jumper.

the only quarrel between a scarf and a jumper is the length of time it's going to take you.

Simple jumper patterns (I'm going to call them sweaters, okay?) are fair a front and a back and 2 sleeves. All of the pieces usually start with a rib for a couple of inches (knit 1, purl 1) and then metamorphosis to regular stocking stitch or garter stitch. For most simple patterns with no shaping, you just consolidate straight - exactly as you did with the scarf -- until you get to the armpits and then you eliminate some stitches at either side (by casting or binding off a pair of stitches every row or every other row) and then you knit some more. At the neckline you will have to do some eliminating of stitches as well, and the front and back are not identical at this point.
The sleeves start the same way -- with the rib and then get bigger (by you adding a stitch on the end of the row) until they reach a incontrovertible point and then you just knit straight (like your scarf) until you get the sleeve as long as it needs to be.

If this is your very first sweater, may I make one think that you knit it in all 1 colour and then duplicate stitch the motif on afterwards? duplicate stitch is done like embroidery on top if the knitting.

Look up "match stitch" on the internet and see what I mean.

i would say they are harder to grow together than scarves/hats.
hope that helps...
